Why completion rate is the only metric that matters

Enrollment counts are easy to celebrate because they arrive early. Completion rate arrives later, after the launch excitement has faded, and tells you whether the course actually made space for people to keep going.

Treat every unfinished lesson as a design signal, not a learner failure. Look for the moment where the promise of the module, the size of the task, and the time it requires stop matching.

When learners finish, they gain the outcome they came for and become your clearest source of referrals. Build around completion first; the rest of your metrics become more meaningful afterward.
